A 4-month-old boy was found dead in his Brooklyn foster home this week from suspected malnutrition and internal trauma he suffered before his foster mom gained custody, according to cops and police sources.
Cops found little Cairo Stenson unconscious and unresponsive inside the Van Dyke Houses apartment on Dumont Avenue near Powell Street in Brownsville when they responded to a 911 call around 9 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
He was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, cops said.
Stenson’s foster mother had only had custody of him for about a month, police sources said.
Investigators believe he may have suffered malnourishment and internal trauma before the foster mom took custody of him, according to the sources.
The city medical examiner’s office will officially determine how the infant died.
