A woman was punched in the face and placed in a headlock inside a Manhattan subway station early Monday — with the thief then bolting with her purse, cops said.
The 23-year-old victim was standing on the northbound D platform at the 34th Street-Herald Square station around 4:30 a.m. when a man punched her and put her in a headlock, according to police.
The mugger grabbed her bag and then fled, cops said.
The victim was taken to Lenox Hill HealthPlex with minor injuries, police said.
The incident came a day after Akeem Loney, 32, was stabbed to death in an apparently random attack as he slept on a northbound 2 train that was pulling into Penn Station, cops said.
Investigators later released surveillance photos of the suspect.
Loney was a gifted soccer player who was struggling to get back on his feet after years of homelessness, his former coach, told The Post.
